Limerick Challenge Week 10: Whisper

I have been asked time and again by participants of the challenge if it is OK to post more than one limerick for the prompt. So here’s my answer: Yes, you can post more than one limerick for the prompt, there are no restrictions on the number of limericks you can submit for the prompts – that’s totally up to you.

Next, while the rules of the limerick challenge states that the prompt word or one of its synonyms must be part of your limerick, the theme of your limerick is entirely your choice. As in, you can opt to write any kind/type of limerick, be it inspirational, dark, emotional, humorous, sensitive etc. so long as the prompt word or one of its synonyms is a part of the limerick and your limerick has 5 lines in the AABBA rhyming scheme. Indeed, it makes it all the more interesting when you think out of the box and come up with a limerick that is different from the usual theme.

Please also note that it is important to pingback and comment with your link on the limerick challenge post, otherwise there is no way for me to know if you have participated. I am thinking of introducing InLinkz to link up your submissions, but before I do that, I did like to know your preference. Please vote on the below poll to let me know your preference.

OK, now that all the explanations have been done, it is time to announce the Top 5 limericks of the Week 9 Challenge: Birth.

And the Week 9 Limerick Superstar is ……… Innervoice with the amazing limerick below:

The world is facing an acute dearth

of love, affection, care and mirth,

All are busy running a blindfolded race

for gaining fame and wealth at a quick pace,

Disregarding the worth and actual purpose of our birth!

Gold-Badges-PSD

The second place is shared by WhatSandraThinks for an emotional roller coaster of a limerick and Dr. Meg Sorick for daring to be different with her limerick.

The third place is shared by Peter of Meritings with this hilarious limerick and Shilpa of Femme Time with her inspirational limerick.

I am sure you have already read all the limericks, if you haven’t then do check them all out! There are absolutely amazing submissions!

Now that the Top 5 have been announced, it is time for the Week 10 Challenge.

The prompt word for this week’s challenge is ‘Whisper’. You can opt to use the word ‘Whisper’ or some of its closer synonyms like murmur, mumble, moan etc.…you get the idea!

For those who are new to the challenge, here are the rules:

  1. Each week, a prompt (A Word) will be provided and participants are to use this prompt as a base for their limericks.
  2. Participants can opt to either use the word (prompt) itself or a synonym of the word to use in their Limerick. This is a MUST. Either the word or a synonym of the word must be a part of your Limerick!

  4. Please tag your Limerick with: Limerick Poetry Challengeso that others interested can check out your Limerick (This step is important).

  10. WELCOME TO MIND AND LIFE MATTERS LIMERICK POETRY CHALLENGE!

Finally, here is my take on the prompt:

She cowered in the dark with a shiver

Hearing the reverberation again this winter

The hollow darkness he lends

Finally, it all ends

“Death is your savior” comes the ghoulish whisper
